Planner Accessory Recommendations

I LOVE planning. It can be so much fun to imagine the possibilities of the future and even more fun if I have lovely tools to help me get all my imaginings onto paper. I am absolutely thrilled with this edition of the Daily Rhythms Planner (available May 15). It is whimsical, beautiful and extremely practical.

After printing your planner, you will want to find a 3-ring-binder in which to put it. For most years I have used this 3-ring-binder due to its durability and flexibility:

I find that I don't enjoy handling a very rigid binder on a daily basis. It also has a clear window on the front in which to insert the cover of the planner.

This year I am treating myself to a beautiful, leather 3-ring-binder I hope to use for my planner for many years to come. It is a bit of a splurge, but will be a pleasure to use and they do offer a 10% off coupon if you sign-up for their e-mail list.

After I have my planner installed in the 3-ring-binder, I like to add tab dividers for the months and weeks. If I am able to, I like to print the monthly cover for each month (the page with the month name, artwork and nature poetry) on cardstock. This makes it a little more durable, enabling them to hold up to the tabs well. On each of these monthly covers I put a month tab. I am using these this year:

On the weekly covers (the ones that say "Week 1, 2, 3, etc.") I like to use small simple tags and write, "1, 2, 3, 4, 5" on the respective weeks. This enables me to find what I am looking for quickly and easily. These are the tags I am using this year.

I also like to add a pocket of some kind at the back of my planner. This gives me a secure place to put tickets, receipts and other little odds and ends (I think I've even put a stick and a flower in the pocket at some point in the last years!). Here is the pocket I am using this year:

Most of the time, I like to use a pencil to write in my planner, but for the journaling I like to use an especially good pen and these are my absolute favorite. They write smoothly and have a pleasing feel while running over the paper.

These are all my favorite planner accessories. Perhaps you will find something you enjoy on my list. Most of all, I hope you enjoy using the planner itself. It has been a joy to create and I am so excited to use it for our family. Stay tuned for a video walk through of the planner to see how I use it to plan our year. Until then, happy planning!
